We were first introduced to the remote lifestyle in 2017 when we traveled long-term through Mexico and Costa Rica for 3 months. Staying in each location for a full month at a time (Mexico for one month, Costa Rica for one month, then back to Mexico for another month), we truly had a chance to experience life in another country as one of the locals. Even while on the trip, we were scheming around how we could continue our location independent life. For us, it wasn’t just about the ability to travel, but more about the freedom to dictate our days, weeks, and even years. From the hours in a day to the location we chose to spend those hours, remote jobs would provide us the freedom we were looking for. 2 years later, we finally found the courage to leave our office jobs and create this lifestyle we knew would be the key to the rest of our lives.
